Apologia Science Curriculum

Apologia Science Curriculum publishes award-winning, creation-based science textbooks for grades K-12 whose goal is to inspire an appreciation for science and a passion for learning.

It's Science books are written in an easy-to-understand, conversational tone directly to the student.

Great for those who love science. Apologia science texts make comprehension easy, education solid, and God's work in Creation clear.

Apologia handles its Biblical mandate...there are other Christian-oriented science courses out there, but very few handle Creation and evidence for the Bible like Apologia science does.

Apologia courses actually give a Biblical Worldview to the students by making them think through and answer difficult questions about of Creation and the Bible.

Why I like Apologia Science

The 2-book sets include a hardbound student text and a softbound solutions and tests manual or you may also purchase the books individually.

Written just for the parent and the student, It is designed with the idea that the student is on his or her own with the course.

All of the explanation that a teacher would normally give orally in class is to included in the book, step by step. The course is written conversationally, to make the student feel like someone is speaking directly to him or her.

The lab equipment is made up of household items or they sell a set that you purchase.

How Apologia Science Curriculum Works

The student needs to do daily lessons in the curriculum in order to allow flexibility for the student working at his or her own pace.

Each book has 16 modules. If you work through each module in 2 weeks, you will complete the course in 32 weeks.

Work on science every day for 5 weekdays, you have 10 work days available in 2 weeks. Do the reading, problems and experiments on days 1-7, review and do the study guide (or review questions + practice problems) on days 8-9, and take the test on day 10.

By Apologia Educational Ministries

Designed to be a student's first systematic introduction to the sciences, Apologia's 7th-grade Exploring Creation with General Science, 3rd Ed. explores broad topics such as the scientific method, designing experiments, simple machines, geology, archaeology, biology, and more, with a large focus on Earth Science (astronomy, meteorology, oceanography, earth study, geology, paleontology, and environmental science). Hands-on experiments are included throughout, giving students practical experience as they discover the principles behind science and learn how to record and report data. Presented in a conversational format, the author walks students through how to complete experiments, how to identify important parts of information they read, and how to take notes. The final module is a project of creating a Rube-Goldberg machine, incorporating many of the scientific principles they learned throughout the year. Students will learn to see God's hand in all of life as they learn about the world He made; they will also read testimonies from modern-day scientists who interpret data through a Christian worldview. Following the lesson plan, students will complete the course in 33 weeks with lessons assigned 4 days per week.

The Student Notebook will help organize your student's work and keep them on track while also serving as an interactive study guide. Features include:

  • A Daily Lesson Plan covering the full year; this breaks down the text, notebook pages, and tests into weekly and daily blocks

  • A day-by-day breakdown of what needs to be done
  • Note-taking pages that feature prompts
  • On Your Own questions & room to write in answers
  • Graphic organizer activities
  • Room to write in vocabulary definitions

  • "Creation Connection" pages where students record their intellectual, emotional, and spiritual reactions to what they are learning
  • Lab Report Pages for the experiments in each module plus the final project
  • End-module study guides

The solutions manual contains answers to the questions in the "study guide" module-end section in the textbook and the tests, as well as a copy of the student tests. The test packet includes 13 tests for one student with a variety of matching, fill-in-the-blank, multiple choice, and short answer questions.

The audiobook contains a complete audio recording of the textbook.
